I’ll never forget hearing my work on the radio for the first time. On June 17, 2021, my field recording “Outdoor Dining” – those fragile moments of clinking glasses and hesitant conversations in Moscow’s pandemic-era cafes – traveled across Europe to air on Barcelona’s legendary Ràdio Gràcia.
That particular broadcast was dedicated to Microtopies 2021 – their annual collection of sonic miniatures from around the world. My Moscow cafe sounds sat alongside recordings from 44 other cities across 17 countries.
The Microtopies are sonic miniatures that shape a special edition of the Música i Geografía (Ràdio Gràcia, Barcelona) radio show, produced weekly by Gràcia Territori Sonor.
